Gareth Gates knocked the King off his throne, after heading straight to number 1, with his second release.Pop Idol runner-up Gates continued the show's chart domination with Any One of Us (Stupid Mistake), while Elvis Presley slipped to number 3 after four weeks at number 1.
Gates, whose song becomes the fourth from the TV contest to reach the top spot, has already enjoyed poll position in the singles charts with his cover of Unchained Melody.

Gareths new single will be out on the 8th of July and isnt a cover version it is a newly written song called Anyone Of Us / Stupid Mistake.

Gareth becomes a Prop(perty) Idol
The Pop Idol runner-up has become among one of the hosts of celebs that taken up residence in a plush appartment in Kensington, London.
Gareth is set to pay £1,000 a week rent. The flash pad has... a double bedroom, bathroom, gym, health suite, underground parking ( not that Gareth can even drive yet) a porter and communal garden. A spokeswoman for Gareth said "GAreth has been moving around a lot since starting Pop Idol, so he is very much looking forward to settling into his new place. Flats in the area have been rented by likes of Robbie Williams, and Pop Idol pal Will is in the area.
Gareth to headline at Bradford's Party In The Park
Gareth is set to play a special concert in Bradford on September 1st. The chart topper has been confirmed as the headline act at the city's Party In The Park. He said that he was thrilled to lead the party. Gareth's mum Wendy says she is "delighted" to see him top the event. "It will be fantastic!!. "He will be really pleased to play there to say thank you to his fans - I'm sure it will be just unreal.
"Bradford is Gareth's home town and they can get thousands of people in the park, so he would be able to play to all the people who wanted him to do a concert in Bradford." Jane Glaister, the Council's director of arts, heritage and leisure, said: "I'm absolutely delighted and this is a real coup for the city. "Gareth has wanted to come back to Bradford to do a thank you performance for his local fans for some time. Tickets for the two-day concert on August 31st and Sept 1st are priced at £5 on sale (01274) 435000 or from St George's Hall in Bradford.
Gareth, Will and Zoe to tour together
These three Pop Idols met together to perform a low-key gig at London's
Covent Garden. While the three performed hits they announced that they will be doing a tour together later in the year around the uk. Gareth and Will also squashed rumours of being enemies :) .

Not only has Will Young seen pop rival Gareth Gates rake in the sponsership deals with the likes of Pepsi and for his 221 formation sealed a deal with Wella Shockwaves. Now Will may have to wait as he see's Gareth "become the priority", from management company 19 as Gareth's album is likely to come out before will The Mirror reported.

Gareth yesterday celebrated a £75,000 deal to promote Pepsi.
He was delighted to be added to follow the list of superstars that have also promoted the drink such as Britney Spears and Robbie Williams.
He said: "Robbie is one of my ultimate pop idols - I remember seeing his Pepsi advert on TV. Pepsi is known for signing big stars and I'm really flattered that now it is me next."
Pepsi plan to feature Gareth on the pack promotions and competitions to meet the star.

The Winner of Pop Idol admitted on Satrday night in a statement: "I am gay."
Will 23, who is currently number one and has sold a record breaking 1.4 million copies.
In the statement he announced...
"I feel it's time to tell my fans I'm gay. Its totally no big deal, just part of who I am. Im gay and I'm comfortable with that."
Will cited "media pressure" as the force behind him coming out.
He also said... " I always try to be honest and true to myself and not to take life too seriously."
